What I was trying to do was add stars where I wanted them, one at a time. So, basically the plug-in is looking at the brightest points and will add a star to that bright point with the presets you selected. So, maybe looking for highlights above a certain threshold and then automatically adds a star to that point. Nikon Dee 300, Dee-Seventy 's' ,Nikon SB-Eight Hundred Flash I tried creating a new effect and saved it and got out and back in and the new effect is there and works fine - I am using a Win32 system so it does work correctly for Win32.

Clicking save and naming the preset doesn't do it for me. I evidently am not fully understanding how changes when adding stars is then saved as a preset.

You need to code it specifically for 64 bit systems.Ĭould you explain your workflow as I cannot get it to work in Win32. So, what works for 32 bit, doesn't necessarely have to work on 64 bit either.

Ralph, 32 bit and 64 bit use different code. I don't fully understand what the criteria is for add a star(s).Ralph Thanks Toermalijn, I figured as much but I wanted to play around with a system that did work just to see what criteria is required for stars to be added. Tried this several times with the same result.Īny input will be appreciated.Ralph Once again I activate the filter Star Effects and the preset is gone.

The changes are saved and I am returned to PS. Pretty obvious process, create the star effect, click save, name the preset, add a comment then click OK and the preset shows up on the preset panel. I have reported it to Topaz but was curious if I am the only one with the problem. I am using their new plugin Star Effects and having a problem.

I also did some suggestions on the topaz labs forum. I am hoping others are having the same problem or this user is really screwing up. I attended their Webinar and what I was attempting to do is exactly what and how they did it. Could be user error but it is such a simple task that I don't think even I could screw that up. I have also reported this to Topaz and I should be hearing from them soon. I have tried this several times and 1 out of 10 times it will work, kind of frustrating. It added the star but also added it to the other existing stars which it isn't supposed to do. In my case I selected the "Add Star Brush", selected the star I wanted then clicked on another area of the image. When I start editing an image and I select a preset then click on "Apply" to save those changes without exiting which allows me to continue adding other stars using the "Add" stars brush.
